WELCOME
        WELCOME

           Dear Cattle Friends,

It is with great excitement that I write this welcome letter to you!
This 2019 Bull Sale marks our 44th year of selling bulls. It is also
our 30th sale held here at Kist Livestock. That’s 25 bull sales, along
with two spring sales and three female sales. It all went by pretty
           darn fast, it seems.

Thankfully, we made it this many years. Honestly, I never dreamed
we would. I can’t tell you how many head that is that we sold
because it was never about the numbers, but about the success of
our cattle and our customers. We don’t just sell bulls, we impact
families young and old. We provide bulls that are safe to be around,
that calve without problems and produce calves that provide
enough growth to keep all of us in the cattle business.
                                                                                    Jan and Sally Jo
We will be offering the best and most exciting set of Angus bulls
we have ever offered. Most are AI sired, and they are all thick made and good. The genetic power of these bulls is outstanding, and they
are all out of fantastic mothers!

The Charolais bulls excite me too! They are a great set of bulls with manageable birth weights and weaning weights that are outstanding.
All of these Charolais bulls selling were born and raised on our ranch, fed each day by Randy and I, and calved out mainly by Sally Jo …
           there I admitted the truth!

But I need to back up a bit. We made a tough decision to reduce our work load, and we sold 90 Charolais pairs in early June. So, after AI
breeding season, they loaded up and headed to Minnesota to some outstanding purebred people that have established purebred herds of
Charolais and Red Angus cattle. These folks have their own established bull sale, their own feedlot, and much more. The good people that
we have joined forces in this sale are the partnership of Chad Zehnder and Ryan and Ross Waage. They took possession of the Charolais
pairs and did all the work from there on out. They did an excellent job.

This, my friends, was an answer to prayer for me. I would lay in bed at night during calving asking the Lord to lead me to the answer to
some change. I knew that Sally, Randy and I were working harder than we should be and needed some reduction in cattle numbers. And
you know, Sally’s not getting any younger! That’s what she tells me! But I didn’t want to abandon our lifelong customers and friends
so when Chad and Ryan were here looking over the cows, they asked if they could be part of this sale to continue to supply you with
high-quality bulls. The answer to say, “Yes!” was very easy.

So, please come meet these good cattlemen. They will be at the sale and would love to meet you and visit with you. They will take our
herd to levels that I could not accomplish at my age. Already, they have had success selling a select few heifers in special sales. They are
energetic, experienced and have the knowledge to make a good, solid-producing herd even better! I look forward to watching them grow.
For Sally, Randy and I, we are still not out of the Charolais business as we have all of our bred heifers and a select group of older cows.

That’s why I am so excited about things to come, which are all good.

Please join us for a complimentary noon meal at the Kist Livestock Café on Friday, Feb. 1. Hope to see
you at the sale and please feel free to call if we can help in any way.

           Thank you,

Jan, Sally Jo and Randy Severance
