WELCOME
WELCOME
Welcome to our 44th Performance sale to be held February 18, 2019,
at Kist Livestock Auction, Mandan, N.D.
We would like to start out by saying, “Thank You!” to all our cus-
tomers: past, present and future. Without your support, friendships,
advise and encouragement we simply could not have remained in the
seedstock business the past 64 years. You have invited us into your
operations, yards, houses and lives and we are so thankful for those
relationships. We have made countless acquaintances along with many,
many good friends over the years, and our lives have been enriched
numerously, so “Thank You,” once again.
We feel that we have a great set of bulls and heifers to offer in our
February 18, 2019, sale. As always, we will have several new sire
groups representing the freshest genetics that the Angus breed has to
offer, as well as sire lines from the past that have shined in our envi-
ronment. While we believe in balanced-trait cattle, we do not believe in mediocre cattle that fail to meet the economically important thresholds
the entire beef industry is demanding. For generations we have been stacking low to moderate birth weight genetics that excel in gainability in
the feedlot, hang up superior carcasses and return outstanding replacement females to the ranch. Our 2018 steer closeout data at the bottom of
this page is a testament to our multi-generational approach.
All the registered cattle will have genomic-enhanced EPDs once again which provides you with the most accurate and up-to-date genetic pred-
ications the industry has to offer. The bulls are big, stout, sound and easy fl eshing. The Tokach females are what our reputation is built around.
They are bred and developed to run in big country with a minimum of inputs and care. They are big-outlined, broody females that are like peas
in a pod and all carry that trademark “TOKACH FEMALE” look.
The sale cattle have been handled the same as in the past. The cattle have not been on creep feed and are on home-grown feed with a protein
and mineral supplement. The bulls were weaned in late-September and the bred heifers taken off grass on December 1. Birth weight are taken
with a scale, weaning weights taken at weaning and yearling weights taken just in time for this catalog to go to press.
The cattle can be seen at Kist Livestock Auction in Mandan from February 16 until sale time. Prior to that time, they and the cowherd can be
seen at the ranch at your convenience.
Thank you to all our customers.
