Dear Cattlemen and Women,
Welcome to the annual LaGrand Angus Bull sale. It’s been a privilege getting to meet all of you over
the past 19 years. This year, the sale will be held again at Stockmen’s Livestock in Yankton, SD at 11
A.M. with Special guests, Penner Land and Cattle and Shaggy Meadows Red Angus. They are bringing
a very nice set of cattle that would complement anybody’s herd. Your consideration in my program is
humbling and I know they think the same. I truly feel these bulls will fi t your needs in the upcoming
times and provide you with the genetics you and the industry desire.
What a challenging time the last few years have been! I obviously don’t need to go into it, but I
sincerely hope we are seeing the sunshine at the end of it. I’ve been silently moving the cow herd
up in these last few seasons and it has payed dividends, but not without sacrifi ce. 25% moved up a
heat cycle this year and 85% calved within the fi rst two swings. I have been on dedicated plan of one
timed A.I. and 45 days with the bull. I had the best pregnancy check since I started this plan and I’m
hoping this will add value and fertility to calves I’m selling. I’ve concentrated on breeding to proven
genetics, and not chasing the new fad. I’ve seen a trend in the last 10 years that I don’t like. I’m going
to continue moving my program into the same line of fundamentals of cattle we started with. A solid
foundation of maternal cows that will stand up to anything Mother Nature throws at them. I hope as
you study the pedigrees of the offering you will notice that I’m leaning towards the maternal side of
Lance & Jeanna Pankratz, things and breeding to bulls that will complement them.
Kaytlin, Logun and Emmalin
This set of bulls have been developed exactly the same as the past, for longevity. I’ve culled intensive-
ly and I’m only bringing the cream of the crop to town. They are not pushed and are developed in large pastures and pens. As usual, they will be
in great shape and ready for cows. As everyone else, we struggled with the mud and poor feed quality. The weights are lighter this year but I didn’t
try to make it up with feed and sacrifi ce the foot quality. The bulls carry a fi rst breeding season guarantee with many discounts and delivery op-
tions available. Scale busting weights have never been a goal for me. Please consider this when looking at the offering but I guarantee this group
will add frame, length and pounds to any set of calves plus a bull that will hold together during your breeding season and for many years to come.
I realize that you have many options when you are selecting your genetics and I would like to thank all of my past customers for their loyalty and
for the new ones for taking the time to consider an investment in LaGrand Angus. Our success derives on getting better every year and your de-
mand drives me to produce better cattle. I would also like to thank all my friends and family for making this come together. Also, Ralph’s Feed and

Welcome from Penner Land & Cattle!
We are fortunate to be a guest in the LaGrand Angus annual production sale again this
year. We are no stranger to the cattle business being in the fourth generation of breeding
registered Hereford cattle that stems on 55 years in the business!
This sale is labeled TOP CUT for a reason and you’ll see we only kept four this year. We
strive for quality and if they don’t meet standards in the fall, they don’t make the cut. The
bulls have been developed on the J&R feed program along with quality grass hay.
These bulls have always been standouts and have developed nicely. They are stout, long
ribbed and sure to add some pounds. The cows do not get any fancy treatment and have
to raise a good calf every year. Open cows are not tolerated. They have to do their job
Jay, Malynda, Kenzy and or they are gone. We strive to raise solid-footed bulls with muscle. We sell calves by the
Keely Penner pound just as you do and the bottom line is to add pounds for more profi t. We strive for
maintenance-free cattle that go out and produce long term.
