P. 2
Welcome
Huber EY Red Angus Holy Smokes, what a year of opportunity! Lots of moisture should make for a lot of grass.
Bryan & Emmy, Issac, Alex & Betsy Huber Economists say that we are poised for good times ahead for cattle prices! As you can tell, I
5866 76th Ave SE • Jud, ND 58454 feel times are bright for the cattle business.
Home: (701) 685-2687 The bulls this year in our offering represent the top end of our 2019 calf crop. Like most
Bryan: (701) 320-8054 • Emmy: (701) 320-1995 operations, the cattle have had to overcome adversities which are refl ected in the 205-day
weights. Our region had an adequate amount of forage, but it lacked in energy. Despite this,
the bulls have really responded well to feed and stayed healthy. The only creep our bulls see
is a medicated pellet in the spring for about 45 days to help prevent coccidiosis.
We feed at our ranch using a TMR wagon which allows us to manage a higher roughage
ration. Our nutritionist, Marie Woodbury of CHS, assists us in balancing a ration consisting
of alfalfa, slough hay, upland hay, hay barley, corn silage, modifi ed DGR, corn and a mineral
supplement. We aim to test the bulls for performance on feed while not jeopardizing their
longevity along the way. We like to keep the bulls in a big enough pen for adequate exercise
to promote muscle development and keep feet in good shape. We feed for a 3-pound-per-day
gain and like to keep average back fats come ultrasound day around that 0.25 average.
Our focus for genetics involves breeding to make these animals functional and effi cient. We
utilize AI to use the best proven sires we feel represent the Red Angus breed. We strive to
produce for our customers bulls that will promote growth, good structure and a strong foot
set. Mothering abilities and docility are also at the top of the list along with positive carcass.
All in all, we are working at offering balanced traits that work for not only ourselves but our
customers as well.
We look forward to working with new customers and thanks to our past customers that
remain committed to the cattle we stand behind. Visitors welcome anytime.
God Bless,
The Hubers
Crosshair Simmental Hello and welcome to our annual production sale. We fi rst want to thank our past buyers for
Ben & Cassie Kleppe their confi dence and support of our program. We are grateful for the support and friends we
Brinley, Hailey, Jaxson, have made being in this business. The bulls have been fed a complete mixed ration consisting
Colton & Jace of chopped hay, silage, corn, distillers and a complete mineral program. The average daily
3220 48th St SE gain test started the day of weaning on November 2 and continued for 107 days. We take
pride in representing our cattle honestly. Absolutely no “fl uffed” numbers or information. The
Dawson, ND 58428 bulls were weaned later this year due to a blizzard and extremely wet conditions. This in turn
Home: 701-327-8330 has affected our adjusted weights but we believe you will fi nd the same quality you have seen
Cell: 701-426-9210 at our sale in the past. All the bulls are semen and soundness evaluated and are ready to go to
work for you.
We are excited for you to see the bulls as this is a solid set from end to end that we offer
for you to appraise. They are bred to grow and fed to last in anyone’s program. This year
we again are offering a few more black bulls. By utilizing embryo transfer and artifi cial
insemination we are hoping to bring some high-quality black genetics for our customers that
utilize both black and red genetics. As we work to build our black genetic program, our friend
Kipp Julson with Double J Simmentals has helped with some embryos from his program to
offer to our customers as we work to bring high-quality black genetics as well. We thank him
for his help.
We would like to invite you to take the evening off and join us on April 24, 2020, at 5 p.m.
at Napoleon Livestock. If you are unable to attend the sale we encourage you to view the
bulls at the ranch any time before the sale, or give us a call and we can help select a bull
to fi t your needs and program. This year we have videos of the offering available online on
DVAuction.com or our website crosshairsimmental.com. We hope to see you at the sale and
see for yourself how a bull from CHSR can add pounds to your calf crop and improve your
profi tability.
Thank you for your interest and support.
Ben, Cassie, Brinley, Hailey, Jaxson, Jace and Colton Kleppe
