Midas is literally the description of an all-around horse. I honestly can’t
come up with something that I haven’t done on him. He has been great
minded since the day he was born and to this day he has NEVER bucked or
humped up once. People talk about a go to horse and that is what Midas is to me. He takes care of
the inexperienced riders, kids, goes down the mountain where other horses won’t go, put him in
tight spots and he has yet to lose his cool. I have drug at least 2,000 calves on him in the branding
pen, he heads, he heels, pulls skiers, I’ve let kids use him in parades. He is the horse that is taken
to “show and tell” multiple times because I know he won’t spook, snort or care if someone walks
under his belly.Midas has been bomb proof his whole life and I have asked a lot of him at times.
Every spring I use him to pony the two-year-olds for their fi rst couple of rides. I’ve pulled fl anks on
bucking horses and he will run up to another horse that is squealing and kicking and just do what
you ask of him. He is incredibly broke and soft. You can move him laterally across the arena with his head any-
where you want it in complete collection. As a 3- and 4-year-old he packed his fair share of elk. I used him to
drag them out of the bad places on the mountain because he will stay calm and always knows where to put his
feet. He defi nitely knows how to pull and tries hard. Since he was two, I’ve rode him a million miles gathering
cows and taking people for mountain rides. He will 100% ride away from any horse and go where you point
him. There is no herd sour to him at all. He’s been rode double several times, jump on bareback with a halter or
string and he just does as he asked. I am confi dent that someone would excel on him in the AQHA ranch riding
or trail course. There isn’t a place I go that someone doesn’t compliment him. He’s very dark in the summer
and is one of those that always looks in shape and muscled up. Midas really is the whole package. I have
hundreds of pictures of him throughout his life and swore I’d never sell him. This is the sale that he deserves to
be at. My hopes for him is that he goes to a family where he will spend the rest of his life being pampered.
