Welcome
Quality Genetics Built on a Heritage of Commitment

        Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 17th annual joint sale of Heart River Ranch Red Angus and Open A Angus. Last year I wrote
that 2019 was a pretty crazy year – who would guess 2020 could have topped that and 2021 is well on its way.
Trying to stay positive, I will focus on the blessings – we had many, fi rst good health, wonderful time spent with
kids and grandkids, and the cattle did well considering a dryer than normal year. More than ever we are grateful
for the customers we have the opportunity to work with and the country we live in. Nothing being perfect we
take comfort in the fact that country folk still stand for common sense, morals and timeless values, and are still
the kind of people you can do business with on a handshake.

Given the uncertainty in the cattle markets, weather, and other ag challenges it becomes more important than
ever for the cattle enterprise to manage resources effi ciently and optimize production. Our programs have
retained their focus on the maternal end of the business while incorporating genetics which bring adequate
growth and consumer acceptability to the table. We hold true to the task of selecting for those essential traits
that enhance operational effi ciency and longevity as it is critical in reducing the replacement costs on the
expense side and is a large driver of overall profi t.

We thank you for your continued interest and patronage of the genetics that we present for your consideration.
We welcome your inspection of the bulls and any questions you may have about our programs. You can view
the bulls at your leisure at the development lot just 3 miles south of Belfi eld on HWY 85, turn west on 40th St
SW and continue to the top of the hill.

Additional information will be provided and posted online as sale day approaches and as data is collected at
www.openaangus.com and www.heartrivergenetics.com. Carcass ultrasound data, videos and updated EPDS
will be provided as they become available.

We will listen to Lisa Pederson, ND Beef Quality Assurance Coordinator and hear from the residents of Home
on the Range after a prime rib dinner the evening of March 9th at the sale location. Come early to inspect the
bulls and we will look forward to an enjoyable evening ahead of the sale.
