Cross-Ty Bulls Red Hill Farms– 2021
                             Cross-Ty Bulls

There is good reason this program is going to be called Cross-TY. Ty Jones is involved in every-
thing we do at Red Hill, and he is adventurous. He has heard so much positive family discussion
about crossbreeding and hybrid vigor that he is totally sold on providing Red Hill customers with
the opportunity to reap the economic advantages gained from crossbreeding.
Ty has also observed the tremendous performance advantages of crossbred pigs compared
to purebreds. We will continue to identify cattle from other breeds that adapt to the fescue
environment and management scheme at Red Hill. The reason for these experimental efforts is
to identify breeds that can be used to provide more opportunities to increase the profi tability of
        our customers. These new genetics are likely to be made available as hybrids or composites;
however, we will not rule out the use of one or two other pure breeds in the future.

LCOC ACCELERATE X166D – Sire of Lots 38-42
One of our major goals at Red Hill Farms is to provide our commercial customers the opportunity to take
advantage of Hybrid Vigor in their operations. Hybrid Vigor is even more important today than ever before
        — because advanced Genetic Evaluation systems and extensive use of AI and ET have resulted in increased
inbreeding in most pure breeds. The Leachman Cattle of Colorado group have purchased and/or used 6
different Red Hill bulls. We have high regards for Lee and his system. Consequently, when we were pon-
dering bulls to use in our SM program in the spring of 2019, we decided to use a highly proven Leachman
Multi-Generation Composite bull with an elite EPD profi le. We chose Leachman Accelerate X166D, a bull that
Lee described as “moderate, balanced, thick made, wide based and gentle.” We have found Lee’s description
and the data to be accurate, and we are excited to offer an outstanding group of Accelerate sons in this sale.
We plan to use Accelerate sons in the Red Hill program, and we will retain all heifer progeny.

                       RED HILL 231A W3 15E (dam of Lots 39-42)
REDHILL 231A W3 15E is an amazing daughter of 231A and our W3 Angus cow. Like her dam, 15E was the
fi rst heifer to calve among all our 2-year-olds. Her fi rst calf was a Beacon son, 29G, that has been retained for
heavy use in the Red Hill program. 29G’s fi rst calves look fantastic, and 29G is a true “Calving Ease” sire. 15E
was fl ushed as a 2-year-old and produced 28 good embryos by Accelerate, one of Leachman’s outstanding
composite bulls. These bulls offer a unique opportunity to purchase outcross genetics from one of the out-
standing cows in the ASA database. All heifers from that fl ush are being retained at Red Hill. 15E was fl ushed
again in 2020, and she will be fl ushed again this spring. 15E has conceived on fi rst service after each fl ush.
