P. 2
Cattle Producers,
Our family would like to welcome and invite you to our
25th annual spring bull sale and our 64th year of offering
high quality balanced trait registered angus bulls. Thank
you for taking the time to review this catalog.
One year ago the world was in panic mode with the
announcement of covid. The world basically shut down,
people hid in their homes, businesses closed up. The
funny thing was, those of us in the agricultural world
barely noticed. Our lives went on pretty much as normal.
Cows were calving, crops needed sowing. Hay needed cut.
And we survived. One thing this virus did was make the
consumers aware of the value of our product. In our area
at least, there was an exponential increase in the farm-to-
freezer sales of beef. Butcher shops are booked out for
over a year. I know we could have sold twice as many
steers as what we had and for a lot more money than what we charged. Hopefully this trend continues to grow.
At Regency Acres, our mission is to raise as labor free and forage effi cient of a cow as possible and for that cow to be a
predictable breeder. We breed for smart sound cattle that can travel, cattle with length, volume and that extra rib, cattle
that are easy fl eshing, and cattle with longevity and are nice to be around. We want cows with good udders that take
care of their calves, vigorous calves that get up quickly and get to suckling. We breed for cattle that are beefy, long,
deep, and perform under a wide array of conditions. All of those things we select for and are things that are passed on
though genetics. The genetics that are introduced into our herd are done so with much research and contemplation.
Some have been good decisions, some out of necessity, and some have been not so good. We score our cattle on
many little things that can make a big difference. With that said, one can look through the cattle and appreciate the
depth and uniformity of the cattle and the progress that has been made.
The bulls have been developed on a high roughage ration designed for a 2.75 lb/day. This allows the bulls to develop
and grow at their own pace without causing structural damage. This year we ended up a little over 2.8 pounds of gain.
They will be carcass ultrasounded and fertility tested prior to the sale. They have been given two rounds of foot rot
vaccine.
The heifers are straight out of our registered replacements. The bottom end and anything that we don’t feel would make
a good cow is sorted off. They are developed on silage and chopped hay and run in a large pasture where they can get
plenty of exercise. They are bangs vaccinated, freeze branded, have all their yearling shots and will be ready to go to
work for you.
You’re welcome to come view the bulls any time before the sale at the ranch. Videos of the bulls are posted on Youtube
and can be found through our website.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday April 9th.
