33 RADAR
John Dappel Gray Grade, Not Registered
15.3 HH Age: 11
JM Horse and Mule Company proudly presents Radar, an 11-year-old
dapple gray mule out of a Thoroughbred mare, standing 15.3 hands and
weighing 1100 pounds. Radar is a ranch raised mule who has quite the
unique story. Radar was how we say in the human world an “accident.” We
had turned out “Ole Jack” with the herd as he had not had a foal in years.
Just 12 short months later here they were, not just one but 12. Radar from
the start was one of our favorites, he was the fi rst to pack and the fi rst
to ride. Radar has been ridden many miles and he has packed all sorts of
things big, odd, and even sometimes scary. Radar has never hesitated at a
new challenge. He has always stepped forward proudly, ready to be caught
and ready to work. Radar has spent lots of time in our guest string at
Cowboy Trails so when we say anyone can ride that’s because anyone has
already ridden him. Radar has led many colts up mountains fi lling them full
of confi dence as he leads them into their next journey in life. Not too long
ago he spent a year with my 74-year-old grandfather packing him all over
the country, while he waited for his new mule to be broke. Radar has been
a proud member of our family and we hope he will fi nd his forever home.
