of rider. Hickory is coveted here at the ranch! We could talk about all
the smiles he has brought to everyone who meets him for days to
come. Absolutely the perfect size at almost 15.1 HH, with a huge hip and kind eye.
Ranch Foreman Deluxe! If you’re looking for that REAL ranch horse, the kind you see
in Yellowstone, this is your guy! You’ll look like a pro as you ride into the branding
pen, a seasoned professional sorting, doctoring, gathering cattle and can really work
a rope on the ground. In tricky situations, he has no worries. Easy to catch loves to
greet you in the pasture. Need one in a pinch? We can pull Hickory straight out of
the pasture and let someone go take a trail ride, catch a loose cow or rope steers
on. Doesn’t require Special Instructions to ride! Has a rocking-chair lope and gait
you can sit all day. Very sure footed in the mountains and great for fall hunting trips.
Used to gunfi re, as a matter of fact you can stand up and shoot off of him. Trained
to lie down and sit. Reins well, moves off leg pressure and is very smooth to ride.
Hickory is a horse everyone falls in love with – he is such a kind soul. Rides bareback,
bridleless and, yes, he even ropes that way. You cannot ride Hickory wrong. A very
seasoned head horse, he has the run for the big shows, works outstanding and
you can run a lot of cattle on him. Takes to new riders and ropers like the seasoned
veteran. Hauled to major ropings and rodeos as well. Chad, Sy, Dixon, Paje and
several others have hauled and won $$ on him. Also, heeled and breakawayed on.
He has been to the big shows and bright lights! Or take him to the back country and
enjoys the trails on him! A horse you look long and hard for. Hickory is one-of-a-kind
in color, disposition and talent. He is sound and UTD and here at our Helena Ranch
