What a year this has been! Extreme drought for many, the thoughts of putting up enough feed, having enough pasture,
running out of fresh water in the pasture had many of us on our toes this year! We were fortunate enough to have car-
ry over silage and hay to feed far into the summer and put the cows out later on. In September, the good Lord blessed
us with about 10 inches of rain over 6 weeks and that was the best the pastures looked all year! It helped a lot with the
late seeded crops and made for an excellent sorghum crop and boy did we need it! We had over 700 acres of hay land
we did not even touch, it was so bad! Corn crop was below average on what was able to be combined and much of it
didn’t even produce a cob and was made into silage.
Our oldest son, Kaden (19) has decided to stay home and pursue his passion for cattle after his graduation! He is a
huge help and is very knowledgeable when it comes to the Red Angus genetics! He has purchased some cows and has
a very nice herd of his own and bulls for sale in the offering with the prefi x KCER.
This year we will be calving our heifers and coming second calvers around the end of February and our main cow herd
has been moved to a May 16th start date! We were going to move them all but Kaden wants to calve his early so I
thought if you are getting up for 25, you might as well check 150! He didn’t fi nd that very humorous!!
The yearlings being offered in the sale are all out of fi rst calf heifers and were not on creep feed. They are structurally
sound and very functional cattle.
The Age advantaged bulls are excellent as a group. They are developed right and have grown into themselves nicely.
Their feet are fantastic! They are very massive, muscular, athletic bulls that are going to cover a lot of cows.
Sincerely,
Rick Rohrich
