WELCOME
WELCOME
Greetings, Friends!
Welcome to our 7th Annual Production Sale! I can’t believe it is that time of
year again. It seems like we just had our 6th sale in a blizzard! Praying for
a little better weather this year. We would like to start off by saying thank-
you for your support of our program. We continue to strive for top-end,
quality genetics for our herd in order to help your programs succeed now
and in the future. Customer service has always been important to us and if
you have any questions or comments, please reach out to us any time.
Time flies when you are having fun! We have certainly had fun and been
busy with 4 very busy kids. Graysen will be 10 in January, Leightyn is 8,
Tristyn is 6, and Traysen turned 3 in December. The older 3 are members
of the Seven Rustlers 4-H Chapter and are excited to start adding beef
calves to their 4-H portfolios. We were NDSU Harvest Bowl Honorees this
year which honors leading agriculturists across the state. We were very
humbled by the nomination and recognition.
We came off a drought in the Summer of 2021, to the most blizzards in a
single Winter in 2021-2022 with a record of 11, to an extremely wet spring,
dried up again in the Fall, and now just got done with a 4-day winter
storm. Our cattle have really shown us their resiliency the last 2 years from
drought to mud and wet conditions to the winter storms. The bulls in this
sale were born in blizzards and cold weather, survived a record-breaking
April Blizzard, dealt with spring mud, and finally got out to “dry” ground
and green pastures at the end of May. We were fortunate to be able to
understock our bull pasture and the bulls were able to stay out on pasture
until October. We then brought them home and put them on a dry hay,
silage, and wet haylage ration. We have also added some ground corn now
due to the storms and colder temperatures. We are excited to offer this
resilient set of bulls.
We have been impressed with the power that our Power Kind herdsire
marks his bull calves with but now that we have more females out of him,
they have impressed us even more. Power Kind females are quickly rising
to the top of our herd, and you can see that in the bull offering. There are
a lot of bulls out of Power Kind females. They have great feet, legs and ud-
ders. The 2020 group of heifers have shown their capabilities by breeding
during a drought and keeping their babies alive through many blizzards and
weaning top calves in the fall.
Everyone is welcome to stop out anytime of the year. Early preview is avail-
able anytime from now until sale day. We look forward to seeing you on
January 14. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or comments
about our sale offering or our program in general. We are here to serve you
and appreciate your support of our program.
Sincerely,
David, Karissa, Graysen, Leightyn, Tristyn, and Traysen Daws
