Welcome to our online bull sale!
Last year was a new experience selling bulls this way but was very effective. I want to thank everybody for the input on the sale
layout. I really appreciate the positive comments regarding how it all worked last year! This year we will be doing the same, a
timed online sale. All the lots will remain open until the bidding closes and all lots will then close at the same time. If you are
not comfortable with the online bidding process, you can contact myself or Vern Frey to handle your purchases. If you have
any questions regarding the cattle or the sale format, don’t hesitate to ask.
The bulls were developed with their futures in mind. They’ve been on a 46-mcal ration that consists of a Hubbard feed pellet,
chopped alfalfa and millet hay as well as corn silage. No additional corn is added other than the silage. We feel that’s enough
energy to express their genetic potential without having to push them.
The bulls were given Alpha 7 and Naselgen 3 in the spring. In the fall they were given two rounds of One Shot Ultra 7, and
Vision 7 Somnus w/ Spur. They were wormed with Safeguard. Poured with Cleanup II, Ultra Saber and Ivomec. We had some
issues knocking out lice, but finally got them cleaned up. You will notice they had been rubbing, but have not been neglected.
This truly has been one of the most fun sets of bulls I’ve ever been able to watch develop. The quality throughout the offering is
as good as we’ve had! The guarantee remains the same as years past. They’re guaranteed to be breeders. If a problem should
arise, let me know immediately and we will handle it to the best of our ability. Customer satisfaction is a priority.
The quality of the cow herd is something I’m very proud of. We cull HARD. If the cow doesn’t cut it, she’s gone. Whether it’s
productivity, fertility, disposition, mothering ability, feet, you name it. If there’s something I don’t like, they’re gone. Quality is
the priority. I want sound, functional, performance cattle that have shape, that have look. The important traits during visual
appraisal, not things quantified on paper.
Phenotype and muscle shape seem to be often overlooked in the Angus business making way for an arms race in the name
of top 1% EPDs. You won’t find that here. I enjoy evaluating cattle, not paperwork. I’ve never heard a sale barn auctioneer men-
tion EPDs when a set of steers came through the ring.
We would like the thank everyone for their past support and
look forward to working with new customers. We strongly
encourage everyone to come look through the bulls prior
to the sale. I’d love to show you around and it gives me a
chance to visit with you about your needs.
