Many things have changed since the outbreak of Covid in 2020, with the most notable being that fewer people are working harder to keep this country

are apparent to me as an auctioneer and sale manager. First, brood cow cattle numbers and replacement heifer retention are at all-time lows in this
country. Second, input costs across the board for just living expenses and operating a business are at all-time highs. Third, the cattle herd that is left
and does exist in the United States is higher quality for beef production than the previous generations before it.

With that said, as a beef producer of the future, you must concentrate on what you can control. The quality of the herd you assemble and maintain will

ease, mothering ability, feed conversion efficiency, eye appeal, carcass quality in their calves, and red-hided heat tolerance in the feedlot. With the
lowest cattle numbers seen in nearly a century, the market looks to be profitable for the beef industry for the next several years. It is time to invest in
