P. 2
Sale Information HANGING H RANCH
Welcome,
It is quite hard to believe it is this time of the year again already! I would like to start by saying thank you to all our past cus-
tomers for your continued support. Without you, I would not be able to follow my passion in the cattle business.
We are very excited once again to offer another set of bulls that I feel showcases what our program is all about. It is always
my focus to raise well-balanced cattle that can thrive in any environment and be profitable.
My top priority is to offer quality over quantity. Bulls are a big annual expense for any commercial cattlemen so we strive
to only offer the very best of our genetics to our customers. I put an extremely strong emphasis on producing “functional”
cattle that combine performance, strong maternal traits, calving ease, efficiency, eye appeal, and structural correctness. I
do not believe in chasing numbers but instead seeing the results in the pasture. We use extensive AI and use a majority of
well-proven sires that commercial cattlemen can count on. Using artificial insemination allows us to focus on each female
and gives us the ability to mate her to a sire that will result in well-balanced progeny. Crossbreeding has also been one of
our main focuses. It is one of the greatest tools we use to add performance, longevity, eye appeal, fertility, fleshing ability,
and maternal traits.
MANAGEMENT:
We summer calve starting in mid-May. Our cows are expected to calve unassisted on pasture. We had 98% of our 2023 calf
crop calve unassisted with live calf. Udder quality and calving ease is always bred in. Because we calve on pasture these
are two traits that are very important to us. The calves are not creep fed and rely solely on their mother’s milk. Calves are
weaned in early November and are fed a high roughage 42 Megacal ration allowing them to grow at a natural pace. They
are then turned out on native pasture through the summer and fall months, the same way we manage our steer and heifer
calves. Through this process we are better able to cull out the average and below average animals. Thanks to the mild fall
weather, bulls were left out on native pasture without any supplementation into the first week of November. They were then
transitioned onto a 40 Megacal TMR. Joel Ostendorf with CHS Nutrition helped us create this ration last year and we liked
the results so are using the same ration this year. We do not believe in covering up flaws with grain. These bulls have been
grown out in a way that ensures longevity, structural soundness, and ultimately a longer servicing career.
SALE FORMAT & TERMS:
We will once again conduct the sale through DVAuction via a Timed Auction. All bull lots will have a video posted to DVAuc-
tion. We have been pleased with this sale format the last couple years. If you are not familiar with this sale format, please do
not hesitate to call and I would be happy to explain.
We strongly encourage taking insurance on your investments, we will not be liable for any injuries or death post sale.
As soon as we get a nice stretch of weather post sale, bulls will be fertility tested. We would then like to get them deliv-
ered shortly after. All bulls will be required to fully pass a fertility test before delivery.
Free delivery within 150 miles or willing to help coordinate longer hauls if possible, which would be at buyers expense.
We retain the right to collect up to 100 straws of semen on any bulls in the offering at our expense and purchasers’ conve-
nience for in herd use unless a lot states otherwise.
