OBSIDIANor “Obi” as he’s known around the barn, is a stun-
ning and captivating 6-year-old Friesian Sport Horse registered
gelding. He stands 17.1 HH, weighs 1,400 pounds, wears a
size 4 shoe and is UTD on shots, worming and teeth floating.
OBSIDIAN comes from a breeding program where action, movement and
breed standard were of the utmost importance and he certainly embodies
these traits. Obi has been a fixture around the ranch for some time now. He
has done all aspects of ranch work and takes everything we throw at him
like a pure gentleman. He ties, hauls and bathes like an absolute pro. He is
amazing for the farrier as well. Obi meets us at the gate every morning and
is incredibly easy to catch. Obi was started in dressage as a 3-year-old and
since then he has been exposed to all sorts of different obstacles that he
has truly handled amazingly. These obstacles have included elk, deer, an-
telope, cattle, sheep, ATVs, kids, barnyard fowl, teeter-totters, jumps, dogs
and tractors. He is traffic safe and crosses water, bridges and deadfall with
no issues. Obi rides quietly alone outside as well. This big man also oper-
ates like a perfect machine in the arena where he will elegantly pick up both
leads, side pass, stop and spin just off your legs. He rides English, Western
and bareback. The best part about Obi is his kindness and willingness. He
is amenable and adaptable to many levels of riders; everything from begin-
ner adults to intermediate small children. He is grandma and husband safe!
If his rider is vertically challenged, it is no problem! Obi will calmly wait at
a mounting block or side up next to a tailgate for mounting ease. If you’d
like to have some real fun, take Obi out shooting, fishing or shoot archery
off him! Take him to hunting camp, put him in a parade, carry a flag or just
take him on a leisurely and safe ride through the mountains. Whatever you
decide, this horse has the brains and the beauty to truly get you noticed
wherever you may go. Obsidian has been a dream for all of us to ride and
get to know. He is still young enough to take him in any direction you want
to go and he is pretty enough to get you there in style. Obi has been an
absolute dream for us to ride and train and we would love to visit with you
