P. 2
Hello from the TNT Ranch!
Welcome to our 40th Annual Bull Sale! We continue to be blessed with another
exceptional sale in 2024, thanks to all our top-end customers that put confidence in
our genetics. We had such amazing support from both past and new customers and
friends. It was another wonderful, emotional day for us all. How can it be possible to
be celebrating 40 years of selling TNT genetics? I guess when you enjoy what you
are doing, time truly does fly by. The Good Lord has answered so many prayers over
the past 40 years. There were definitely years of struggle along the way, but as we all
look back on the past 40 years, those struggles are now some of the most treasured
moments, learning so much through it all, molding this operation into what it is
today. Struggles can be a good thing, for they make the strong stronger and make us Gabriel & Shanon, Trenton (20), Teagan (18),
appreciate the good times instead of taking them for granted. Looking back at the Dawson (14), Tarryn (11), Dylan (7) & Sutton (6)
35th Annual, Dad wrote in his welcome that it was the final sale. He did not want
to be done and none of us wanted to see all their hard work and genetics come to an end. And here we
are, five years later celebrating our 40th Annual! Proof that prayers do get answered! We are blessed to be able to continue to build
upon their hard work and success, dedicated to working hard to produce a product our customers want that continues to improve the genet-
ics and performance in their herds as well.
We continue to be busy chasing after our kids on a daily basis! They are all very active in many school and community activities, but we
still make sure that they find time to help out on the ranch! All six kids play a big role in the day-to-day activities – we certainly couldn’t do
it without all their help! Trenton and Teagan are now off to college, but we make sure they don’t get to stay away real long! The oldest three
kids have cows of their own and Trenton has a bull in this year’s sale. Gabe’s brothers, Paul and Matthew, are a big part of the operation as
well, and Gabe’s dad Robert helps whenever he can. We are very appreciative that they are willing and able to help us make this all possible.
We continue to grow our herd and will be calving 430 registered cows this year along with 30 recipient cows, with almost 200 replace-
ment heifers being developed. We began purchasing cows from Dad and Mom over 10 years ago and have grown our herd off of theirs ever
since. Dad will also be selling 33 of his bulls with us this year as well. With increasing our herd numbers, we continue to offer you a solid
set of bulls that we feel are just as good from the first to the last. As you will notice in the catalog, we are featuring two herd sires we are
retaining. We are extremely excited about these two bulls. We feel that though they would have been sale toppers in our sale, you can’t put a
value on knowing the cow families for generations that create two top-end bulls like them. They were chosen for their cow family strengths
that contribute to our maternal expectations of highly productive, strong-producing cows with added longevity, while adding value through
their phenotype, profit and performance aspects as well.
We do not creep feed the calves, so what you see is what the dam produced, and I am very proud of what our cows can do for us. We had
the best calving season we have ever had, with minimal snow. It was a nice reprieve from the record-setting snow the year prior! We started
off the summer with an abundance of grass, but the rains really slowed down the middle of July. This however allowed the grass to dry out,
and man did the calves grow! We weaned the calves the beginning of October and the calves weaned off heavier than normal and looked
excellent on pastures – the best I can ever remember. Dad’s bulls were weaned and raised at his place until early November, so they are in
their own contemporary for weaning, but were included with ours from then on. We feel ratioing the bull in one large contemporary group
gives you a more accurate comparison against the whole herd. Our fall has been fairly mild, and the bulls have really done well. There the
bulls are fed a TMR ration and are not being pushed hard, being worked up to what they are currently being fed in mid-December. We really
like this ration that has a high-percentage of high-moisture alfalfa baleage in it, which makes the ration higher in protein and they consume
it really well. This ration is designed for a 3.25 to 3.50 gain and this year they were averaging 3.93 on a 98-day test. We feel the milder
weather, performance-minded genetics and choosing the top end of all the bulls born at both places helps contribute to their higher gain.
The bulls will sell by video with Seth Weishaar as our auctioneer. The bulls will be penned right outside the sale facility by 9 a.m. for
your viewing and will stay in those pens until the conclusion of the sale. The sale will be broadcast live on DVAuction and we will have sale
reps here and phone bidding will be available for anyone who isn’t able to attend. We will have a video of each bull on DVAuction. We do
encourage you to try to get out and see the bulls in person ahead of sale day. They are all being fed at our ranch at Lehr. Don’t hesitate to
call us or Dad to go over any of the bulls, as we will do our best to help you choose bulls that fit your needs.
We feel this is another tremendous offering of bulls that we are proud to represent. Almost all of the bulls are out of dams that were raised
on the TNT Ranch. We feel this shows the ability of our home-raised cows to raise top-end bulls from the first to the last. We place a strong
emphasis on fleshing ability, performance, docility, udder quality and high maternal traits. We are proud of our cattle and feel you will be
proud of “The Explosive Difference” they will make for you. We, along with Dad, truly have a passion for this business and love breeding
cattle with the never-ending pursuit to try to make them better. We will continue to stand behind what we sell just as Dad and Mom have,
with high integrity and honesty backing all of our business operations. Feel free to stop in and view the cattle anytime of the year. Thank
you for your current and past interest in TNT Simmentals!
Sincerely, Shanon, Gabriel and Family
