Welcome

What is really important to you, your ranch/cattle operation and your family? I think we can all agree that 2020 gave us ample opportunity for some refl ection and time
to think about the future. While some moments of this past year were defi nitely challenging and different than normal, I fi nd myself longing for parts of it back. We spent
more quality family time together than we have in years. I am about the only one that wants a do over of 2020 but having the two youngest kids together during fi ve
months of our busiest times of year was nothing short of amazing. The feeling that there was no where we had to be, there was nowhere to go, took a stress load off that
we didn’t even know we carried. We took a year that threw challenges at us, survived and come thru to the next year.

Did you know that resilience is defi ned as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or signifi cant sources of stress? Ag people are
strong people who day in and day out keep doing the daily tasks that need to be done. Why?? Well just because we do, that’s why. We were raised to be resilient. We are a
group of people that knows how to survive uncertain times. We do it every year. Did we suffer some losses this past year? Well yes, we did, just like every year brings. Did
we suffer new challenges? Well of course we did. Did we often wonder, what will tomorrow bring? Of course we did. We all like answers but so many times that answer
lies in taking one day at a time and trusting that you are exactly where you are supposed to be at that moment. If there is anything this past year taught me, it is that we are
the luckiest group of people to live in a state like SD with so many fi ghting for our freedoms. This past year should have taught us that compassion and understanding go a
long way. This past year showed us just how resilient we are.
Red Angus cattle are also resilient. They are faced with many different types of weather and they still survive, adapt and thrive. Red Angus has been highly sought after
the past decade and if you follow social media at all, there are new faces every day that have realized the value that Red Angus cattle can add to a herd. One of the things
that we focus on is what our customers have asked for from us. Most of you still want some cattle with a little more frame and growth and you should fi nd that here. We
still focus on a maternal herd that has plenty of growth, with good feet and udders, you should fi nd that here. We don’t have any more time to babysit cows than you do.
They have to do their job and do it well or they get a one-way ticket out of here. We add new bloodlines so our current customer base can still utilize our genetics without
worrying about keeping heifers back to breed in their own herds. We spend a lot of time thinking about what you, our customer wants and needs. You and your operations
are important to us. You will also fi nd that while our bulls carry plenty of body condition, they are not over conditioned by any means and if you choose to leave them here
to feed after the sale, they will actually be gradually backed down to a lower Mcal grower diet so they can transition better at delivery time. You, the customer, are always at
the front of our minds. We would love to talk cattle (or goats…hahah!) with you and help you make your herd bull decisions.
We will have video footage of the bulls the week prior to the sale. The bulls will be at Hub City on Friday before the sale for you to sort thru. They have been on a strict herd
health program. We will have ultrasound carcass data available sale day. They have genomic enhanced epd’s and are parent verifi ed. Some are enrolled in the Top Dollar
program. They will also be semen checked prior to sale day.

Hope to see you sale day, if not you are always welcome to stop in for a visit! As always, don’t forget about our goat sale April 24, 2021 broadcast on DV Auction.

Welcome to our 2021 bull sale. This will be my 39th year of selling Simmental bulls. To this point it has been a good winter to be
raising cattle. Temperatures on the mild side and no snow to move. We all know that can change tomorrow, but hopefully not.

The bulls have been fed the same as in the past. Chopped hay, corn silage, modifi ed distillers, and corn. They have been on a 48 Mcal ration since
the middle of December and look to be doing good. The calves received no creep feed this summer so the
weaning weights show what the cow and grass can do.

This year we did genetic testing on every bull. They were tested for homo polled, homo black, and non-diluter. The results are noted in the foot-
notes. The genomic testing adds information to what is known about the animal’s genetic potential. In other words, it increases the accuracy of the
        EPDs.

The bulls were all videoed. This will be available on the DV Auction site. If you can’t attend the sale for any reason you can bid on the DV Auction
site or contact any of the sale personal.

As always you are welcome to come and view the bulls at the ranch.

        Thank you for your interest.
