Welcome!

                                             Cattleman, Friends and Neighbors,

We would like to invite you to our 55th annual production sale on Saturday, Janu-
ary 14th. On behalf of the Dethlefs’, we want to thank all of our friends, neighbors,
and customers that have made it possible for us all of these years. We have been
so fortunate to have met so many good people and good customers over the
                                             years throughout raising Angus cattle.

Our true pride and joy is our cow herd. We believe in culling our cow herd hard,
demanding that our cows wean heavy calves, breed back on time, and hold their
Dethlefs Family body condition throughout the year. Our cows are not bred for light birth weights,
Front: Clayton, Dianna, Jerry & Capri
Back: they are bred to calve easily. There is a difference. Because of this, you will find
Cody, Callie, Dar, Gary, Emily & Connor good bulls in this sale from the start to the end. We truly believe you cannot find a
better set of 2-year-old bulls anywhere.

With so many different breeding decisions available, we try to keep it simple. If
you breed a good cow to a good bull, you should get a pretty decent calf. Ev-
eryone’s idea of a good one can vary, but ours doesn’t. We believe they must be
sound in their structure, perform near the top of their group, and move well on
solid feet and legs. No matter how good their EPDs are, there are no exceptions.
EPDs are a nice tool, but we don’t breed solely for them. We feel that if you take
care of the traits you can see and weigh, you will be much better off in the long
                                             run.

We will be selling over 100 big, stout, 2-year-old virgin bulls. As always, these
bulls are our top end. They are not picked over, and come from over 250 head of
Connor, Gary, Jerry & Clayton bull calves. They have never been fed hard and have been developed on pasture
so they get plenty of exercise.

We offer 2-year-olds for a number of reasons. The reason for us is so we don’t
have to calve in a lot, and can calve on pasture in March/April. The reason for our
customers is so they can buy a bull with confidence knowing that he will be able
to service more cows his first year, hold his body condition, and not wear out.
We are very proud of the fact that you can see what you’re actually getting with a
2-year-old compared to a yearling. It takes an exceptional yearling to make a good

                                             2-year-old.

Just like last year, lots 1-29 of the sale are genomic tested. Most of the bulls’
Jerry: 308-372-3200 growth EPDs increased substantially. Because of that, it would be safe to say that
Gary: 308-383-1855 the bulls we did not genomic test would also have more growth than their current
                                             EPDs indicate.
            Connor: 308-383-6229
Clayton: 308-383-8933 We hope everyone has taken advantage of the higher calf prices, although I know
everyone has experienced higher input costs. If the good Lord would send some
moisture our way soon, the future couldn’t be brighter for cattleman. As always,
dethlefsangus.com we would love for you to stop by to look at the cattle and visit. Be sure to join us

                                             for lunch on sale day.

                                             Thank you again,
