Frio is a 2019 Draft Cross Gelding registered with the IDSHR.
Standing 16.2HH this boy is BIG, BLUE and BEAUTIFUL! No matter
your goals, preferred discipline, or riding atmosphere, Frio has the
confidence and athleticism to make your dreams a reality. In the
arena, he is an elegant mover with a canter that you can sit for hours.
His smooth transitions, lead departures and willingness to work strongly support
why I believe he would make a great dressage or western dressage prospect. He
will pivot on his haunches, stops with ease, and will back up for days. He has
been ridden extensively in the arena both under English and Western tack and has
also been to a few schooling shows. Frio will lay down as a party trick, or to be
mounted! You can swing a rope, throw balls at him, ride next to machinery or even
move cattle on this guy. Frio is the definition of versatile. I’ve personally enjoyed
many miles on the back of Frio through the Sam Houston National Forest, where
we’ve encountered cyclist, dirt bikes and various wildlife. No matter the obstacle or
terrain, Frio will go anywhere you point him without hesitation. He crosses all types
of water, bridges, logs, and brush! He is surefooted and his main priority is the
safety of his rider. He will stand tied for days to be loved on, groomed, and tacked. He is a complete gentleman
for the farrier and the vet. He does not require any maintenance, stocks for shoeing or special feed. He is an
easy boy to own, ride, enjoy and fall in love with.

Tall, dark, and handsome, this breathtaking gelding is bred for
performance. Turning steers is no sweat at all for Blackhawk, he
scores quietly and never ever gets outrun. Lower numbered header
and need an easy quiet horse to catch steers on? Blackhawk will take
you to the pay window. On the rodeo road and need an elite partner
to handle long scores, fast cattle and stop the clock? Blackhawk is the horse you
need. He doesn’t mind if you want to run 10 or 50 head, it’s all in a day’s work.
Blackhawk is the best head horse you’ll ever turn a steer on, whether it’s in the
practice pen or at the BFI. Your heelers will love it when you ride him. He will make
you both look good! Well broke, Blackhawk rides around beautifully with a smooth
easy trot and rocking horse lope. He travels lightly across the ground, gathers up
easily and makes any task enjoyable. Soft in the face, he readily moves off your
leg and has been fun to pattern on the barrels. Sound, sane and so easy to enjoy,
Blackhawk has had one owner since he was 6 months old and has always been
a rope/ranch horse. Enjoyable outside the arena with a pleasant ground covering
walk, good manners, and a sensible approach to life. Of course, Blackhawk is a
perfect gentleman on the ground - Easy to shoe, bathe, and haul. Blackhawk’s conformation is flawless, he has substantial bone and good feet. An exceptionally quiet
minded horse, Blackhawk was kept as a stud for select ranch mares until he was 7 years old, and his owners decided to quit raising horses. The perfect size for a head
horse, he stands 15.3 and weighs 1350 lbs. By the legendary late FIRST MOONFLASH who was a Grade 1 stakes winner, won $969,828 on the racetrack and has held the
440-yard world record since 2009. Not only a racetrack sire, FIRST MOONFLASH offspring have done exceptionally well as barrel horses, winning at all levels. Blackhawk
is out of daughter CHICKS A BLAZIN and has CHICKS BEDUINO and DASH FOR CASH on his papers. You won’t find horses with this pedigree that didn’t run on the track.
