Sale Information
I am delighted to extend a warm invitation to you on behalf of the Thiessen family of Regency Acres Angus for
their annual bull sale.
When I reflect on this program and the Thiessen family, dedication is the word that comes to mind – a
dedication not just to a vocation, but to a way of life. For decades, cattle and farming have been integral to
the Thiessen family’s existence, and their commitment to producing top-quality Angus seedstock for their
commercial customers is truly commendable. The cornerstone of Regency Acres’ ethos lies in understanding
that their success is intertwined with that of their customers in the commercial sector. They strive to offer
products that enhance the bottom line of their customers, a mantra that has guided their program throughout
its existence.
In the pursuit of increased profitability for commercial cattlemen, the value proposition of the bulls offered is
paramount. Astute cattlemen seek longevity in their investments – they desire bulls that endure beyond the
initial breeding season, delivering tangible results rather than mere hype. It’s the desire of every purchaser to
acquire something that surpasses expectations – a product that embodies not just aesthetic appeal but also
soundness and longevity, translating into profitability. By focusing on fundamentals such as calf survivability,
weaning weights, pre- and post-weaning performance, and visual appeal, success is all but assured.
Furthermore, considering the female component and emphasizing traits like longevity only solidifies the
investment. Recognizing that your seedstock supplier’s cow herd essentially becomes your own, genetically
speaking, underscores the importance of understanding their philosophy and program, fostering a more
symbiotic buyer-seller relationship.
Russ and Tyler remain steadfast in their commitment to assisting you in selecting seedstock that enhances
your bottom line. Their dedication to producing what they believe to be the best for their program should serve
as a guiding light for your endeavors.

Helpful Hints for care of Herd Bulls
Having herd bulls adapt to the environment they will be in is adjust to a different diet. When a bull is turned out, he isn’t
very important to the success of a breeding program. Whenever thinking much about eating, so any advantage that you can give
possible, the bulls should be fed the same type of forage they him will be beneficial to younger bulls.
will eat in the breeding pasture for a minimum of two weeks
before turn out. Their rumen operates with little bugs to break Another trick for having a virgin bull ready is what we call
down the diet and different forages each have their own little “Jump-starting.” If you have a cow or a heifer around that is
bugs. About two weeks is the time required for the rumen to cycling, put the bull with her. If he seems disinterested, put
another bull in with the cow for him to observe. This should
trigger his brain. When the bull appears interested, let him in
and remove the other bull. Make sure a bigger bull doesn’t start
whipping on him, or that could defeat what you are trying to
accomplish. It is rare that this procedure is necessary, but it is
good insurance and, once the bull gets a taste of what his job
is, he will be ready for those heifers.
When breeding season is finished, a reconditioning program
for yearling bulls is good as they change their teeth at 18 to 24
months of age.
