4093 is another excellent Hughes son,
this time out of a different donor, 417C.
He’s bigger-framed than the 54B sons
but still built correctly, perfectly footed,
and an exceptional female maker. His
flushmate sisters are my favorite
replacement heifers in the pen. This bull
will produce daughters that last and
make you money—all while weaning off
at over 800 pounds.

4009 is the first of many Pie Captain
2290 sons. We purchased Captain
2290 from Pieper’s in 2023 for $35,000
because we were impressed by his phe-
notype, size, and the quality of his dam.
He’s siring exceptional bulls and females
with dark black hooves and tremendous
growth. This bull is super dark cherry
red, level-topped, and stands on excel-
lent feet. He ranks in the top 1% for WW
and YW, weaned off at 817 pounds, and
ratioed a 113, making him
the number six weaning
weight bull among the
natural calves.
