P. 2
Hello from the TNT Ranch!
Welcome to our 38th Annual Bull Sale! This past February, we held the 37th Annual
TNT Simmentals bull sale at our ranch for the first time, selling 104 Simmental and
SimAngus bulls. We had such amazing support from both past and new customers and
friends, it was such a wonderful, emotional day for both my family and my parents,
seeing TNT getting carried on with the next generation. Dad and Mom have done so
much for the Simmental breed and we hope that with their continued guidance and
support, we can continue to carry-on that impact for years and generations to come.
The knowledge and work ethic we have gained from working alongside Mom and Dad
is priceless. We truly do have a passion for cattle and enjoy how it brings our family
together, working through all the various aspects of the operation. Gabriel & Shanon Erbele, Trenton (18) Teagan, (16),
We continue to be busy chasing after our 6 kids daily! They are all very active in Dawson (12) Tarryn (9), Dylan (5) & Sutton (4)
many school and community activities, but we still make sure that they find time to
help out on the ranch! They all play a big role in the day-to-day activities, and we love the various interests
they have in the ranch, we certainly couldn’t do it without all their help! The oldest three kids have purchased a few registered heifers and
Trenton has his first bull in the sale this year. Gabe’s brother Paul and dad, Robert, are a big part of the operation too. His brother Matthew
also came home for a few months to help with various jobs around the ranch. We are very appreciative that they are willing and able to help
us make this all possible.
We continue to grow our herd and will be calving 345 registered cows this year along with 40 recipient cows and 20 commercial cows
that Paul owns, while still doing a small amount of custom feeding as well. We began purchasing cows from Dad and Mom in 2014 and have
continued to grow our herd from theirs ever since. In the fall of 2020, we purchased 90 of their top young cows that were all carrying bull
calves. We purchased an additional 70 young cows carrying bull calves from them the fall of 2021 and so with adding these top females to our
current herd, we feel we have another excellent set of bulls to offer you. Dad we will also be selling 26 of his bulls with us this year as well.
Dad will continue to mentor and guide us as we continue to grow our operation.
We do not creep feed the calves, so what you see is what the dam produced. As with the rest of the state, we got hit with a few horrible
spring storms, which made calving a challenge for everyone, a season we don’t want to ever have to repeat. Due to all the late snow, our
spring started off extremely wet, not getting any crops in the ground until June. We had the most luscious, tallest grass we have seen in many,
many years, but it did not take long for the grass to dry up and turn into a drought again like we had last year. We ended up weaning the
calves the end of September and beginning of October. Dad’s bulls were weaned Sept 25th and were raised at his place until October 15th,
so they are in their own contemporary for weaning, but were included with ours from then on. We feel ratioing the bull in one large contem-
porary group gives you a more accurate comparison against the whole herd. We started them out on a high fiber, medicated creep feed two
weeks prior to weaning and kept them on that with free choice hay for a few days after while fence line weaning them, and then moved them
into their big pens. There the bulls are fed a TMR ration and are not being pushed hard, being worked up to what they are currently being fed
in early December. We really like this ration that has a high percentage of high-moisture alfalfa baleage in it, which makes the ration higher
in protein and they consume it really well. This ration is designed for a 3.25# to 3.50# gain and this year they were averaging 3.92# on a 99-
day test. We feel the performance-minded genetics and choosing the very top end of all the bulls born at both places helps contribute to their
higher gain.
Same as last year, the bulls will not go through the ring, but will sell by video with Seth Weishaar as our auctioneer. The bulls will be
penned right outside the sale facility by 9 a.m. for your viewing and will stay in those pens until the conclusion of the sale. The sale will be
broadcast live on DVAuction and we will have sale reps here and phone bidding will be available for anyone who isn’t able attend. We will
have a video of each bull on our website and on DVAuction. We do encourage you to try to get out and see the bulls in person ahead of sale
day. They are all being fed at our ranch at Lehr. Don’t hesitate to call us or Dad to go over any of the bulls.
We invite you to come to the ranch any time and view the cattle and see the way we manage our herd. We feel this is another tremendous
offering of bulls that we are proud to represent. All but four of the bull are out of dams that were raised on the TNT Ranch. We feel this shows
the ability of our home-raised cows to raise top-end bulls from the first to the last. We did flush a few of our top cows this spring and we
are extremely excited to get some ET calves added into the offering next year. We place a strong emphasis on fleshing ability, performance,
docility, udder quality, and high maternal traits. We are proud of our cattle and feel you will be proud of “The Explosive Difference” they will
make for you. We, along with Dad, truly have a passion for this business and love breeding cattle with the never-ending pursuit to try to make
them better. We will continue to stand behind what we sell just as Dad and Mom have, with high integrity and honesty backing all of our
business operations. We hope you will continue to give us the great support you have given Dad and Mom these past 38 years. Thank you for
your current and past interest in TNT Simmentals!
Sincerely, Shanon, Gabriel and Family
