8 PEPPERMINT Grade
Molly
Black
15.1 1/2 HH Year Born: 2014
Peppermint is a beautiful, super friendly 10-year-old Black molly
mule. She stands just under 15.2 HH and has a pretty head and
great conformation. Peppermint will meet you in the pasture to
get attention, and she is very respectful and polite on the ground. Peppermint has
been ridden extensively in the mountains of Montana, the valleys of Wyoming, and
the red rocks and slot canyons of Utah. She is extremely sure-footed. We have had
novice riders and children on her in our outfitting business and she takes great
care of them. She will ride to the level of the rider, stepping up for an intermediate
and huge fun for someone who can ride. Any level of rider can and has enjoyed
her. We rode Peppermint in the lead herding 150 head of horses through a town
on pavement, past motorcycles, baby carriages, bicycles, four-wheelers, and big
trucks. She is definitely traffic safe. We can swing a whip off her and she doesn’t
get excited. Peppermint will pick her way carefully across deadfall, boulders, bogs,
and high water. She has seen buffalo and grizzly bears up close and not spooked.
Grouse flying up under her feet don’t bother her. She is that mule that is always
ready to go but completely reliable. She has a great neck rein, stop and back. She
will lope if asked but is completely controllable. Peppermint is a self-preservation-
ist who takes care of herself and her rider. Peppermint has led the string and is
a super sensible lead mule. She also has been packed with meat, horns, duffle, gro-
ceries and tents. She keeps up packed in the front or back of the string and won’t
hit her load on a tree. She gets along with all the other mules, mares and geldings
and just finds her place in the herd. She is accustomed to hot wire fence and won’t
test it. She will come running in from anywhere she can hear you shake a bucket of hay cubes. Peppermint has been hobbled and picketed by a front foot. She will lead
or follow up the mountain in the dark or daylight. She will ride alone and is brave. She will also happily lead or follow with a small or large group and doesn’t get worried
when someone rides off. She stands patiently tied and does not chew on ropes. Peppermint jumps right in the trailer and travels well. Peppermint can travel slowly if
you want but can really step out and walk if you need to get somewhere. She is very comfortable and holds a saddle well with a nice wither. She will stand to mount and
dismount and if you use a mounting block or a rock or stump she will come to it for you. We have ridden her with either a crupper or a britching. Peppermint winters out
on grass. She is a sweet molly mule who never gets too fat or too thin, whether we have her on pasture grass, in the wilderness for months, or in a corral with grass/
alfalfa hay. She has fabulous black feet that stay in shape. She is very easy to trim her shoe. She stands still to roach her mane. We have owned Peppermint for several
years and she has never taken a wrong step. She rides just as well when we gather her up off pasture in May as she did when we turned her loose in October. She has no
blemishes inside or out. Absolutely sound. She carries one brand and it’s ours. Peppermint is experienced, personable, and most of all, SAFE. Current on vaccinations,
wormer, and Coggins. This gorgeous molly mule is a real gem.
